RE: Cordless Drill

i just opted to downsize from 18 volt to 12 volt with lithium ion batteries with four tools. Couldn't afford the big boys anymore and I believe the 12 volt will suffice for any repairs I need to do.

RE: Mobile internet

I had Hughes internet but when the modem didn't work(new) they wouldn't back the warranty because I set it up myself. I canceled the same day and threw it all in the dumpster and bought Verizon. I had been a customer since it was direcway.

RE: Can't get rid of yahoo.com as a home page

for starters, you can load your internet browser that you want to use like Igoogle.com or whatever, and then somewhere on that page should be a "set as my home page".To actually get yahoo off your computer, control panel is the place to go. Not knowing what you have thats all the help I can give you.

RE: Avoid Sears

I have no current problems with sears as I don't frequent their stores anywhere anymore. When they subcontract a bathroom overhaul to a construction outfit who subcontracts to Caterpillar workers on strike that hook up 220 to a 110 volt system and ruin a new floor which I installed with a lot of hard labor and leave a lot of leaks throughout and won't fix all the bad things they did wrong, I can't shop there no more. Kmart either if they own them. Nothing personal though.

RE: Win Vista users

I have an HP photosmart that won't operate at all on Vista. I have a cheap HP scanner/printer that is USB and it works fine. Its a good thing I have two Toshiba laptops with broken screens still on XP so I can use the good printer.
I also have a few old programs that won't run on vista. May end up putting XP in if I ever find a cheap XP.

RE: Skirting a 5er

Years back I built a temporary frame around my tag-a-long in Illinois and put insulation around it, and freeze proofed my water lines. I also leased a big propane tank which they would keep full. Worked fine for me until I didn't need it anymore.

RE: PPL Motor Homes: please confirm your email address

I just bought and had them install a new refrigerator, so when I got it I just confirmed without thinking (nothing new there). I do a lot of business there via the internet normally. Seems OK to me.

RE: What is happening? Lights dim, elec problem?

When I had that problem, I cleaned the battery terminals with baking soda/water mixture and noticed an improvement. I then recleaned and finally disconnected all lines and cleaned them all and it solved my problem. The corrosion appeared to go right into the insulation around the cables.

RE: Towing Lincoln MKX

I tow with a brake buddy and it doesn't drain my battery on a normal day long tow.
Of course I normally crank the car up when I make pit stops just to help on the lubrication and I believe that to be more detrimental than just leaving it on.

Thanks guy. Fast response. One choice and the size still calls for a bigger hole.

RE: Back to the Garmin GPS question

Having bought the Garmin in 2006 and getting a free map update(2008) in 2007, and finding out it was just as bad as the original, and now my GPS is telling me to get another update, I can only say NOT!!! I now need confirmation that there is an improvement of some sort. POI's don't count. They may have us by the short hairs except for the fact that we don't have to part with our dollars for a crock of bull that they like to pass out. Some of the mapping errors are over ten years old which tells me that they are not even trying. Stopping rant. Sorry!!

RE: Not evacuating from hurricane, questions

If I really had to worry about hurricanes at any time, I would set up an anchor system for my camper like people do for mobile homes. May never use it, but it would be nice to have. Right now, since I am workcamping in south Louisiana I plan on just driving out Sunday evening when the boss says I can leave.

RE: GT Xpress

I bought the DW two of them. Everything came out great that she tried. The only problem I had was the company tried to double charge me and harassed me for what seemed like a year. They didn't stop sending bills until I finally called them for the last time and told them I was turning all my receipts over to my lawyer and the NY attorney general who will contact them. Its my understanding that they outsourced their billing at the time and I do believe they were robbed. They did stop billing me.

RE: Full Timing and Health Insurance

I started out on the Cobra plan for 18 months after I retired. Then went without for me but medicare for my DW. Went to the VFW and got help in getting VA coverage and the VA billed me for co-pays etc until they put me on Disability for Agent Orange related problems. I can go to any VA clinic or hospital for the required blood test etc. I just started Medicare with a supplement from USAA/Humana using a pay for fee service. No problems have developed while out of South Dakota so far. All VA meds ordered on line and sent to mailing address and forwarded to me.

RE: Should I buy a back up fridge for cheap?

If your original fridge turns out to be repairable, the 60 dollar one would make a nice side by side for that family. If its possible that is.

RE: To cancel Direct TV or Not

I call them to deactivate for six months and when I want to reactivate they told me I could do it via my account on their internet site. I have two receivers but I only activated one this summer. No hassle.
